It’s very easy in this throwaway society, to lose a sense of the magic of giving and particularly the magic of Christmas.
Today let’s share thoughts of generosity and abundance, particularly in relation to giving. Isn’t it true, when we tend to find a sense of familiarity and maybe even mundane, we need to freshen up our mental outlook.
Generosity needs to be manifest in both receiving and giving. What really is that the root of a generous spirit? How can we be generous in not just giving but also receiving? How can I help you with this?
Consider one dictionary definition of the word ‘generosity’ :-
“The quality or fact of being plentiful”. Oxford dictionary.
Isn’t that thought of being plentiful beautiful. Generosity is not confined to little or much, it is the ‘quality or fact of being plentiful’.
When I was a child, I remember that feeling of anticipating Christmas presents and birthday presents (being born on December 29, there wasn’t a lot of time gap between the 2 LOL). That sense of excitement and the feeling – ‘is this the present I’m looking forward too’? I have no doubt you have similar memories. As I grew up, I began to appreciate more the wonderful feeling of giving not just receiving. However, sometimes as we grow older, we seem to lose the magical attachment to receiving and giving gifts. It’s very easy to hold onto and retain our perceived abundance. It’s easy to feel, that to let go of what we have will result in loss!

There is so much around us in nature to proof there is abundance. However, penny pinching society mindset can makes feel the need to hold on to what we perceive we have. Look at the trees, are there a lack of leaves? Think of the air that surrounds us, is there enough? There is more out with us and within us, than even we at times realise.
